Bryan County Republican Party

GOP After Action Letter – Bryan Membership drive

From the desk of Larry Barker

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that participated in the membership drive for their efforts in making a very rainy Friday night event, a huge hit!!

Over 130 people enjoyed low country boil and heard Congressman Jack Kingston and Senator Eric Johnson. We raised in excess of $1,000 in membership dues, and more importantly added new members to our roster. The food was great and so was the hospitality, I want to personally thank Michele and Toby Roberts for hosting us at their wonderful home and this would not have come off with out their tireless work and planning. Thanks again Michele and Toby.

A couple of thoughts on where we go from here:

  • As Jack reminded us Friday night, 2010 will be a crucial year not only for Georgia and the GOP but also for the USA. He said it’s time to “get off the bench” and indeed it is. The fate and direction this country will take over the course of the next 8 years is at stake here. We must success in taking back control of the Senate and House.
  • I have received numerous comments from members saying they will no longer support the GOP as contributors because of the failures of the past administration and the presumed deafening silence coming from the GOP in Washington. While we can all appreciate that feeling – let’s not burn down the barn to get rid of the rats! If you believe in the basic tenets of conservatism, ie. life, liberty ( without the intervention of a huge massive government bureaucracy in our lives, ) and the pursuit of happiness and freedom in achieving your dreams and goals in life, then stand with us., shoulder to shoulder.
  • We need to fuel a grass roots uprising by supporting our candidates with donation donations and our time. I want to see us raise at least $10,000 for our gubernatorial and congressional candidates herein Bryan County.
  • We need to use cutting edge technology to sell our message and get the word out , ie…text messaging, facebook, iphones, emails, talk radio, television. etc.. not to just our group but to all those who share our ideals. We need to encourage young people to get involved. We need to be ON MESSAGE with our talking points and get in the face of the media when challenged with our message and hold the media accountable for the truth and not waffle or waiver when under attack.

We are in the planning stages of our next rally to be held this fall and we will be calling on each of you to support this endeavour. I want to again thank everyone for their support and I am honored to be your chairman in this truly historic time. May God bless each of you and the USA.

Larry Barker

Chairman Confrence call with Sen. Isakson

From the desk of Larry Barker

FYI…I spoke on a conference call with Senator Johnny Isakson this afternoon with 3 other Ga.GOP Chairmen…..we had a Q & A with Johnny and the gist of the conversation was as follows:

  • Next week will be ” war ” week in the Senate with the Obama budget..the political gloves will come off and if you have Cspan.turn it on..there will be fireworks over this entire budget debate.
  • Johnny is working in concert with Saxby Chambliss to stall the Obama agenda and to halt the tilt towards socialism and Obama’s massive govt takeover of the private sector.
  • If you have a specific concern or comment that you want to go to him directly, please call Johnny’s personal rep in Atlanta , Andrew Billing @ 770-661-0999

I had 4 questions for Johnny. They were as follows along with his response;

  1. Where are the trillions of $$ for the budget and the 9 trillion in deficit spending over the next 10 yrs coming from? I don’t see where we have the money even if we confiscated every $$ from every American? He said “bottom line” the government will have to print the money or borrow it from China or Dubai and they might not lend us any more money. The printing presses will be running non stop and if we ( the Republicans ) don’t stop this glut of spending we will both double digit inflation and or bankrupt Its imperative that we say NO to Obama on this.
  2. Obama keeps pounding his podium ( in classic Mussolini fashion ) about the evil bankers and Wall Street brokers getting billions and demanding accountability. Where is the accountability for HIM and HIS cronies and Nancy Pelosi and Barney Franks and Chris Dodd and the FED GOVT’s obscene spending of OUR $$$? He said, “Wait till next week..before I answer that Question.”
  3. Is Obama purposely trying to destroy the US economy and Capitalism so he can install a complete Nationalization of the US economy? Johnny said no. He’s just an ideologue and has not a clue about what he’s doing. All the people in his administration are either career bureaucrats or Educators without one ounce of practical experience in the real world.
  4. Where is the GOP “ANTI OBAMA” voice? We don’t hear one person from the GOP, other than Rush Limbaugh, standing up to the Obama juggernaut. Johnny said it’s better to explain to the American people that the same people that run the IRS are soon to be running your health care. Most Americans either don’t know the difference between a socialist/Marxist and a capitalist or could care less. It’s counter productive to fall into the media trap of slugging it out with the Obamites..over this.

    • While discussing the need of a new Chairman, Dexter Brewer, who is very knowledgeable from working with Spaulding County GOP, wanted to make sure we have all our ducks in a row and are following the appropriate steps to do so.  This is very much appreciated.

  • Karen noted we are “in the hole” at this time, to not fault of our own, as many of our functions were rained out this year and people did not attend, however, the vendors still had to be paid.

    • Karen asked for a financial report, however it was not available due to a software glitch which will be corrected by the next meeting.

New Business

  • Our Purpose

    • To raise money and awareness for local and regional candidates, as well as state and federal.

    • Increase Membership (the northern portion of Bryan Co. has a higher percentage of democrats than republican, we need to show a strong standing county wide.)

    • We need more members to help serve.  (We have Friday filled, but need 3 to 4 servers per shift per day on Saturday and Sunday, shifts are 2 to 2.5 hours long) – Contact Karen, Debra, or Wendy if you need to sign up.

    • We discussed making posters, banners, and signs for the Seafood Festival (both for the menus and for the party), April volunteered her husband to make these!  (Thank you!) Amd. Karen found our GOP banner, says it looks good and we can use it!

    • We need help setting up and tearing down.  (We will be in the park Thursday evening at 6 pm to start set-up, if you can come by to help, that would be appreciated!)

    • We will keep our prices the same for the crab stew we were made famous for in 2005!  $3 per bowl.We will serve iced tea as well as soft drinks.

    • Alexandra will be handling decorations.

    • We need to get a list of the local officials who plan to serve so we can get name tags made for them.

    • Volunteers will have to pay to get in to the festival, regular prices.

    • Volunteers working with the food will need to wear hats and gloves…mandatory.
